Bed Bug Exterminator

Bed Bugs. These insipid creatures sneak in and make a meal of you as you sleep. They spread as quickly as wildfire and as stealthily as a ninja. If there were ever a pest whose name should automatically be followed by a horror movie yell and a "duhn duhn duhnnnn," Bed Bugs are it.

Bed Bugs have made a big comeback in the U.S. They're here, and they aren't going anywhere without the help of a professional exterminator. They typically live between a year and 18 months, and they can survive a large portion of that time without eating at all. If you were hoping to leave them alone and starve them out, we're telling you now that it will not work.

They're tireless with access to food, piercing your skin with a long beak and feasting on blood for around 10 minutes. The insects use a numbing agent, so you don't feel the bite as it's happening. Instead, what'll tip you off is a welt that'll appear after a couple of days (or, for some people, a couple of weeks), and in that time, the infestation only multiplies. Females can lay up to five eggs per day, and some of them lay over 500 eggs within their lifetime.

These tiny, reddish-brown creatures can make their way into any building by hitching a ride on someone's clothing or luggage. They're especially attracted to fabric and wood – making your beautiful bed frame and cozy sheets a very attractive place for them to spend their evenings. They are also commonly found in the cracks of hardwood floors or baseboards, behind picture frames, meandering around under loose wallpaper, cuddled neatly in clothing, or lounging in your chairs and sofa. Some have even been caught in Kentucky lingering inside clocks, telephones, TVs, and smoke detectors. If you haven't noticed, that list covers everywhere in your home.

DIY remedies are simply ineffective against these pests. Insect repellent won't keep them off you, and retail pesticides won't wipe them out. People try all sorts of things - cigarette smoke, spraying the bugs with alcohol, laying out bleach - but none of it solves the problem. If anything, those attempts will create a secondary health hazard. Some people latch onto the idea that Bed Bugs prefer to hunt at night and try turning the lights on. Unfortunately, that does not stop the insects' rampage. If you suspect an infestation, you must call a professional pest control company to help you out.
